For Daddy

Jer is out of town so I wanted to post some pictures for him to see what Kayla and I have been up to so he doesn't miss us too much! he he

This is what I found Tuesday afternoon when I heard Kayla wake up from her nap.

Yep, she can reach the mobile now. I took it down along with the rainforest because she wouldn't take her nap this morning. She would have her eyes closed in my arms so I would set her down in the crib and immedietly she would look around, see the rainforest, and crawl over and stand to play with it. Silly girl.
It was so cute though because she was holding out the flower like: "Here Mom I picked this just for you!"

Watching then go round and round. This is before the Ward Halloween party. She was quite crabby. I drew a traingle nose on her but when I went to get her to leave it was smeared all over so we wiped it off. I made the tail from one of your socks and some cheetah ribbon. For anybody else reading, this is just one of Kayla's costumes...she has a couple more she wore or is wearing to different parties...she is definitely a girl!
Here she is at the party with her hat on. Everyone asked where you were. We missed you too and wished you could have been there. She looked cute and had fun helping mommy with the cookie booth (she was crawling around by my feet in our booth and found the box with the broken cookies in it and and tried to eat one just before I took it away.)
That is all for now...gotta run. We miss you! XOXOXOX

Halloween F.H.E.

Last Monday Jeremy suggested that we carve a pumpkin for FHE. I was surprised because I am usually the one to suggest the crafty stuff and I didn't think Jer liked to carve pumpkins. Jeremy said that Kayla couldn't have a proper first Halloween without carving a pumpkin. So, Kayla and I picked out the perfect pumpkin at Fresh & Easy and we had a fun Halloween FHE.

Jeremy scooped out the guts.

Kayla clapping while Jeremy designed some eyes for our pumpkin.
We had to give a chunk of pumpkin to Kayla to try a lick or two. She made some pretty funny faces but I think overall she liked it!

Our finished pumpkin man! I designed the nose, Jer thought up the flame eyes and we stole the mouth from a picture we saw.

Then Jeremy really let his creative side go and carved our name in the side.

OOOOAAH! SCARY!

It was a fun creating new traditions and memories as a family. Happy Haunting Everyone!

Little Miss Mischievous

Every night before bed I get the camera and show Jeremy the fun things that Kayla and I did that day. Lately though, the stories have turned into "What did Kayla get into today!" It is sad that we are already having these conversations because I know it is just going to get worst when she can walk. Here are some pics and stories about what Little Miss Mischievous has been up to:

She thinks she is so big because she can reach the TV now. When we turn it on she crawls over and stands up to watch in her "front row" seat. We have to move her so her eyes don't explode.
Yum! Nothing like a good magazine lick. She got her self stuck in there this time with both arms in, when she went to pull her arms out her shoulders were in the way and she couldn't get out. Jer and I like to see what she will do; she got a little frustrated at first but then, like a bear with it's nose stuck in a beehive, she just started eating away at the magazines. Might as well enjoy your situation, right?!

She thinks the table is a jungle gym built just for her!
Then, she realized she could reach on top of the end table. Here she is reading the Ensign. No more drinks up there!
Kayla loves to follow me around the house. I walked back to the bedroom to brush my teeth and as always, Kayla came following after. But, after I started brushing my teeth and Kayla wasn't in the bathroom yet I decided to see how far she had made it down the hall. She wasn't in the hall. So I started calling her name and looking all around the house. I couldn't find her. Then I heard a wimper. On her way down the hall she had found another "hall" and turned left to explore behind the love seat! She got stuck trying to turn around. Her little distressed face broke my heart!
Kayla making her way back out.
So, after the "behind the couch " incident, I decided to put her in her crib while I went out to do some laundry (our laundry room is off one of our patios). We lowered her crib to the very bottom a couple weeks ago when she stood up and the crib edge was at her wasit...yikes! Well, to my surprise, when I peeked in on her she had pulled herself up to standing. She hadn't done this since we lowered the crib but I think the her rainforest toy enticed her to do it. Crazy girl!
Later that day she ventured behind the love seat again and this time I found her on the otherside. I blocked off the shoe bin so she couldn't get into it but she is too smart and made her way to it the tricky way.

She likes to practice walking with her new walking toy.....
.... except when she losses her balance and sits down but forgets to let go of the handles and the toy tumbles on top of her. (Don't worry it is a light toy and she only did this once and then she learned to let go!)
This is what I found one day when I went get her from her nap. I heard her squeal and was afraid she had fallen...nope, she just got BOTH legs stuck in the rails. Silly silly!

I folded her toy down because she was using it like stairs and climbing up it which scared me so what does she do...uses it as a stepping stool to get to the "off limits" area! This is her "I'm so smart, ha ha mommy" smile.

World Series Here We Come!

So, just to back up a little, the Phillies won the game on Monday night to make the record Phillies 3 Dodgers 1. On Wednesday night, if the Phillies won, they would be the NL Champs and would go on to play in the World Series next week. It was going to be an intense game at our house I could tell. So, to ease the unsportsman like feeling, I made Phillie cheese steak sandwiches for dinner to eat during the game! Jeremy didn't think it was funny and said that I better be planning on making Dodger Dogs for the next game since the Phillies were going to loss! He did enjoy the sandwich though and I have to say I was proud of my yummy meal. (I have never made them before) I was going to post a picture of the sandwiches but we looked at them and they look like brain sandwiches in the pictures so we decided not to! My magic sandwiches must have done the trick because the Phillies won and are going to the World Series! Jeremy's last words were, "I guess I will have to start cheering for the Phillies now (meaning in the World Series)". We have had fun watching the games together!!! Can't wait till the World Series! GO PHILLIES!

Baseball Update

So, I was getting a little too proud around here when the Phillies won the first two games this weekend so the Dodgers snuck in a good game last night and earned one win. I am not letting too much of my pride down yet though! We will have to see what becomes of the game tonight!! GO Phillies!!!

Kayla and her Daddy watching the game together! So sweet.

GO Phillies...or is it GO Dodgers??

SO, as most of you know, I have a father who grew up in New Jersey just outside Philadelphia. Because of this, his children have adopted his love for the Philadelphia sports teams. Now Jeremy on the other hand has grown up a true blue Dodger fan here on the West Coast. This usually causes no family feuds but this year we have a little bit of a dilemma. Today is the first game of the Dodger vs. Phillies playoffs. Usually if the Dodgers are playing a game against any other team I root for them because half of me is a Dodger fan. But in this case I am going to have to go with the good old Phillies. After all the first MLB game I attended was a Phillies game in Philadelphia so deep down I know I have to cheer against my Dodger lovin husband. The action will be intense around here this weekend as they face off three times but we will keep you posted on the action.

P.S. Kayla told me today that she wants to watch the game tonight wearing her red shirt....can I help it if she wants to cheer for the winning team.... sorry Jer!

P.S.S. We were in Utah for a week or so and then our internet wasn't working...that's why we were MIA for awhile!
