Kayla at Eleven Months

"Look Mom, I can take out my bow!"

I have a goal to write in my journal more this year and am doing horribly already so excuse my long blog but I need to write down what Kayla is doing at this fun stage for my own benefit but feel free to read or skim or skip this post....

Yes, our little baby is already 11 months old! She is becoming more and more like a toddler and less and less like a baby which is just oh so bittersweet.

It is so much fun to see her learn new things. She is a little talker and babbles all the time. She knows who "Mama" and "Dada" are and especially likes to talk to Dada on the phone and gets very excited when he comes home from work. She will hear the door open and she sprint crawls to see him. It is precious!
She loves to play in the Tupperware...until we put a latch on the cabinet...when she went over to the cabinet the next day, and couldn't open it, she started screaming and was so mad. I still open it and let her play with them when I am cooking/cleaning. She loves to eat and will eat most anything...even dog food....yes she ate our friends dog food when she was being watched while we were on a date. Silly girl!
She still only has two teeth. She loves her leapfrog alphabet radio and carries it around the house. She loves to carry just about anything around the house. She smiles like she is sooo big when she stands up while holding a toy. She looks at me like "Look how strong I am Mom!" I love it. She is starting to give "loves" and she gives kisses but not on our face. She just makes the noise with her mouth. She still loves... to play chase, suck her fingers, her blankies, to read books, and crawl to places she shouldn't. She dances even more now...in the grocery store when she hears the background music, at church, when there's music on the TV, when she eats...there isn't music playing but after each bit she has to do a little shimmy.
She definitely keeps us laughing. She is still a very happy girl and we couldn't ask for a better baby!
Here is a video of somethings Kayla is learning to do right now. (On the video, it sounds like we are playing with her like a puppy who learned new tricks but I promise we don't treat her like a puppy!...most of the time.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEREMY!!

Today is my wonderful hubby's birthday so I thought I would post a little "tag" so you all can get to know the Jeremy I know.
Husband Tag

1.Where did you meet? Through my friend/Jer's cousin Kristin

2. How long did you date before you were married? about 1 year (including the engagement and the couple months that I was a flake)

3. How long have you been married? 4 1/2 years

4. What does he do that surprises you? Once in a while he will just splurge on something (and when I say splurge I mean he buys the four dollar ice cream instead of the two dollar kind) and if you know Jeremy's spending habits like I do this would surprise you also!

5. What's your favorite feature about him? His smile and his "squinty" eyes when he smiles

6. What's your favorite quality about him? His strive to do things the best he possibly can...important things that is...he's not a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning!

7. Does he have a nickname for you? Sweetheart or Sweetie...or maybe that's what I call him..?

8. What's his favorite color? Blue....you should see his wardrobe...

9. What's his favorite food? Steak

10. What's his favorite sport? Baseball

11. Who said I love you first? He did

12. When and where was your first kiss? Our first kiss was in a storm drain tunnel in Las Vegas on our third or so "date".

13. What's your favorite thing to do as a couple? We like to play games, go hiking, watch movies, go on trips; I don't know that we have a favorite.

14. Do you have kids? How many? Yes, one adorable girl

15. What's a hidden talent he has? He has a hidden talent of playing any sport. He is quite competitive and can pick up a racket, ball, paddle or whatever and pretty much do well at it. (With one large exception...GOLF!)

16. How old is he? 27 today!

17. What's his favorite kind of music? He likes most everything

18. What do I admire most about him? His love for me, Kayla, and especially the Lord

19. What's his favorite past time? Playing sports, playing with Kayla, tracking our money/expenses...hehehe

20. Do you think he will read this? Yes, he reads our blog...but I have to admit (for him) that he usually would skim through a "wordy" (as he puts it) post like this elsewhere. (He really likes pictures...maybe that's why I can't get him to read books...there's not enough pictures!!) J/K sweetie....I LOVE YOU...Happy Birthday!
Goof ball Jeremy (Yes, he is actually wearing another color other then blue!)

Christmas

Well, it is already the 9th of January but I would feel bad if I didn't post about our Christmas holiday. It was such a joy to have Kayla with us this Christmas! It was fun to start new traditions as our family grows. Here is a little run down of how our Christmas went.

This year we stayed home and had Christmas with Jeremy's family. On Christmas eve, we went to dinner with Jeremy's parents and visited with them. This was different from the usual candle light dinner or nativity scene theater in the past but we had an enjoyable time and we were glad Kayla could spend time with Grandma and Grandpa. We then returned home so Kayla could open her Christmas eve P.J.'s and Christmas book.

It was fun to watch her read her book. She really liked the flaps. We then put her to bed and got ready for Santa to come and assemble Kayla's toys.
In the morning when Kayla woke up around 7:30, we showed her her stocking. She really liked to pull everything out and play with her new toothbrush and hair bows. She then found that Santa had left her a banana in the kitchen. She tried to eat it with the peel on! Yuck! Then, we packed it up, and headed over to Jeremy's parents for a fun Christmas day to celebrate Jesus's birth with presents, food, family, and lots of great memories.
Kayla with her little piano that Santa brought her. She doesn't like to sit on the chair, she stands and dances to the music. It is great!

Kayla found the big bag of wrapping paper trash. We should have just given her that for Christmas and she would have been happy!
Does this go on my head?

Kayla and Daddy reading a book Kayla received. She really enjoys books!

I had to post this picture to show off the shirt that Kayla made for Grandma for her birthday. What a proud looking Grandma!! Grandpa is carving the Christmas turkey in the back. It was delicious! Thanks for the wonderful day Reese's!
