"I slipped out of Daddy's hands"...

Road Trip to Green Bay

I haven't seen my cousin Ashli in almost 5 years, so being only 5 hours from her this summer, we were excited she agreed to let us come and crash at her place for a visit.
They planned a full Saturday of Green Bay fun for us.

We started at a wildlife sanctuary. Kayla liked the "alive" wildlife as much as the "not so alive" wildlife. (Only Jeremy would dare his two year old to stick her hand in the bear's mouth; and only Kayla would actually do it!)

They had pellets you could buy and feed the deer. The kids loved it!


Without thinking I told Kayla to give the deer a kiss...and she puckered right up! (After which I rubbed hand sanitizer all over her mouth. Yes, "Mother of the Year" awards are in my future.)

Then we headed across the street to some cute rides right on the Bay. They were cheap and the kids rode almost everyone they could. Ashli has 4 year old twin boys but I can't tell you if this is Kade or Ky...? I think Kayla thought she was seeing double the whole weekend.

Then it was off to the one and only, Lambeau Field.

I know, I can't believe I didn't think of this for my wedding! Ashli was jealous too.

They had some great blow-up drills for the kids to play on. Kade and Ky smoked the competition but as you can see, Kayla was a little less enthusiastic.

She kept calling everything baseball. I wonder why?

Thank you so much Ashli, Bart, Kade and Ky for your wonderful hospitality and a great weekend. It was so nice to catch up, reminisce and even get to know you better. You have a wonderful family and we can't wait to see you again!

Little Peach at 4 months

STATS:

Weight: 14lbs. 6 oz. 75th

Height: 25 3/4 '' 75-90th

Head: 15 3/4'' 25th

This past month, Avely has been doing a lot of growing and seems to be doing great!

She found her tongue. For a week straight she would have it hanging out all the time. She would even smile with it out. She rolls over from tummy to back and tries so hard to roll to her tummy again. She has been successful a couple times though.

She loves to laugh and no one can make her laugh like her sister Kayla can. She is always watching Kayla. She can't get enough of playing and talking with Mom and Dad.

She loves to hold her bottle when I feed her. Most of the time she starts playing with it, taking it in and out so I have to hold her arms down.

Cuddle time with Daddy is a favorite. Her hair is a peachy color and it is also at that peach fuzz stage so she is our little peach.

I didn't think these two would be best buddies this soon but as you can see, they are.

Avely is still a happy, calm, sweet baby. Once I get her settled down, she loves to cuddle with me as I rock her to sleep. She is strong and kicks her legs and arms like crazy when on her tummy. She pouts her bottom lip when she is about to cry. She is starting to notice strangers and cried when the doctor and nurse looked at or talked to her.

Just for Fun

Since day one, I've heard some people say that Avely looks like Kayla and some people say she doesn't. So, I thought I'd put some pictures of them side by side at roughly the same age. The hair is a pretty big give away, but on a few it isn't easy to tell who is who.

Can you tell who is who?

Definitely sisters, but some big differences here.

So, Avely didn't start to look like Kayla, Kayla started to look more like Avely around 3 months. Kayla is 3-4 months old here and Avely is only 2-3 months.

So after my little activity, the differences I found were:

Kayla has a rounder nose

Kayla's ears stick out more

Kayla has a defined chin and brow

and, of course, their hair

They both have the same luscious lips

Can't figure out the eyes, sometimes they look alike, sometimes different

Anyways, Avely looks more like my baby pictures and Kayla looks more like Jeremy's. But, even with those small differences, it is crazy how much they look alike. It will be fun to see how they compare as they grow up. They are both beautiful to me! (I know, you could have done without the cheese).
