Lake Tahoe

For our anniversary we went to Lake Tahoe for 4 days. This blog will be a non-Kayla blog...amazing I know. Every blog has a picture of her in it but not this one! Grandma and Grandpa Reese were kind enough to take Kayla for the 4 days. We missed her (I think every time I saw a baby I said something to Jer) but we had a really good time! We took lots of pictures because it was SO beautiful. The lake is so clear and blue; not to mention huge! It is one of our new favorite places. I mean, mountains and beaches...can it get any better! I submit that it cannot!

Our first view of the lake. We drove from the airport in Reno so we came to the lake on the north side and drove around the lake to where we were staying on the south side. It was a beautiful drive.

A pretty sunset at Eldorado Beach in South Tahoe City on Saturday night.

We drove up to Emerald Bay on Sunday morning (after we went to church only to find that it was Stake Conf.....in Carson City. What are the odds!). So we went on a scenic drive.

Emerald Bay! So pretty. There were lots of boat there that day.

Me infront of Emerald Bay lookout.

Jeremy waiting impatiently for our food at BIG DADDY'S BURGERS. With a name like that we knew it would be scrumptious. It was!

After our scenic drive and burgers we went to Nevada Beach to watch the sunset and chill.

Me with my arm around Jeremy's shadow. I know, we're silly.

The radiant sunset.

Monday was our super duper hiker day. This is at the overlook just a little ways into one of our first hikes. It was a hike to Eagle Lake; which is on the mountain behind Emerald Bay (as seen in the distance).

Hiker #1

Hiker #2

.We made it to Eagle Lake

Then we hiked the other direction, down to Emerald Bay. You can only hike down to this beach. We had a picnic lunch here and took a nap on the beach. It was fabulous!

The Vikingholm Mansion that was built for this lady in the 1920's at Emerald Bay. I won't go into the whole story but it was pretty neat stuff.

Our third hike; to Eagle Falls.

Eagle Falls. A little disappointing on the whole "falls" part. Pretty rocks but it needs a little more WATER!

Hiking out of Emerald Bay was a good view of Fannette Island. If you look close on the very top you can see the little castle were the lady had tea every afternoon.

Don't let our smiles fool you, we were exhausted from our day of hiking.

Then Tuesday morning it was time for some fun on the lake. That is Jeremy tearing it up on the Sea-Doo. We both went out on it for awhile but I knew Jeremy wanted to go a little crazier then I wanted to, being on the back and all, so I let him go out and have some fun by himself.

Jeremy WAY out there. He is the tiny white speck. It looks like he is all the way to the other side but the lake is deceiving; it is 13 miles to the other side!

On our way out. We had a great get-a-way! Thanks for watching Kayla Jon and Peggy!! Goodbye Tahoe!

I've been to Lake Tahoe once when I got on the wrong freeway driving home from Cali and drove for 3 hours in the wrong direction. Needless to say I wasn't very happy to be there at the time, but I always hoped to go back there someday under better conditions. It looks like it was absolutely beautiful!! Happy 4th Anniversary!!
